Autonomous Environmental Service Vehicles
On 21 March 2019, 800 Super and it's consortium partner, ST Engineering Land Systems Limited was awarded the Government-funded Research & Development project for the design, development and trial of Autonomous Environmental Service Vehicles (AESVs) for road cleaning by the National Environment Agency (NEA) and the Ministry of Transport (MOT).
The flagship project is the first to be conducted by the NEA's Environmental Robotics Programme to better optimise resources, drive innovation, push widespread technology adoption, and improve productivity across the Environmental Services (ES) industry.
The consortium proven Autonomous Vehicle (AV) & ES expertise, knowledge and technologically advanced proposal coupled with a unique collaboration partnership went through a series of rigorous selection process by a multi-agency panel led by NEA, MOT and the National Robotics R&D Programme Office (NR2PO).
In response to the Request for Information (RFI) in October 2016 and Request for Proposals (RFP) in December 2017, the consortium's comprehensive proposal edged out 7 other proposals and was successfully selected to develop a prototype autonomous mechanical road sweeper within a period of 12 months and follow by a 6 months Proof-of-Concept (POC) trial.
800 Super's alignment with NEA, MOT, NR2PO and the Committee of Autonomous Road Transport for Singapore (CARTS) objective to adopt innovative technology and advanced solutions to improve productivity and deliver quality services, strongly cemented the organisation's tenacity and commitment to deploy technology in utility operations and alleviate traffic congestions through operations in off-peak hours.
